Why is Residents Feedback Being Censored or Ignored?
BCC provide a Street Improvements Tool where residents can submit suggestions for street improvements in Bristol.

I have entered a few suggestions for Street Improvements, but some of them didn't appear to be shown on the site.
I decided to carry out an experiment and log four street improvement reports on 21/04/2026 to see if they appeared on the site.
Report 1 - Zebra Crossing on North Street
This is a screenshot of the screen where I logged the suggestion.

This report appeared on the map a few days later.

Report 2 - Portway too narrow
This report was also successfully logged on the map.

I was surprised that this suggestion "logged for potential road widening" as BCC have only just spent millions on reducing the road width at this point.
Report 3 - Segregated Cycle Lane on Coronation Road

This report did not appear on the map. When the South Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood consultation was carried out there were a number of suggestions similar to this one, but a Cycle Lane as this end of Coronation Road was never proposed as part of the SBLN.
Report 4 - Adjust Timings on Gaol Ferry Bridge Crossings

This report did not appear on the map. Perhaps it was not logged because it was a suggestion to increase the timings on the pedestrian crossing to reduce the traffic congestion at this point. We have not idea what the impact this has on pollution levels as BCC do not record pollution levels on this main road in the CAZ.
There are a lot of suggestions logged at this location, which are mostly about the problem of cyclists not dismounting on the bridge.

This Google Street View image from Mar 2021 clearly shows the "CYCLISTS MUST DISMOUNT" signs on the Bridge before it was refurbished.

There are multiple Street Improvement suggestions asking for the "CYCLISTS MUST DISMOUNT" signs to be re-instated.
