When we think of what Avon Fire and Rescue does on a daily basis our first thought is likely to be putting out fires and attending road traffic accidents.

But there are many other incidents that they deal with and one of those categories of incidents is "Removal of objects from people".

These are the most common objects removed from people.

Filwood and Horfield are the most popular Wards for object removal.

Only 4 ring removals so far in 2026.

There haven't been any handcuff removals since 2023.

• 4 handcuff removals took place in people's homes
• 2 handcuff removals took place in a fire station
• 1 took place in a hotel

Perhaps one of the reasons that "handcuff removal" numbers have dropped is that there are now plenty of youtube videos explaining how to escape from handcuffs.
