Asbestos Dumping Update
A few weeks ago I reported on the data related to asbestos fly tipping.
The problem of asbestos fly-tipping not being dealt with in a timely manner was raised by Councillor Tim Kent. He talked about suspected asbestos fly-tipping being reported to Bristol City Council but not being dealt with for a month.
Recording of Committee Meeting - Asbestos Discussion

It was admitted that mistakes had been made and improvements would be made.
However, if you look at the FixMyStreet Reports for Asbestos you can see that there are a number of suspected asbestos fly-tipping reports that have not been dealt with. FixMyStreet reports are marked as "Fixed" when they have been resolved, but many of the reports are marked as "Closed", which usually means the Council have not dealt with the fly-tipping.
These are the reports for "asbestos" raised in 2025 that have not been "Fixed".

For example this report was added on 27/02/2025 "Builder's waste including ASBESTOS, an old door, a security barrier." It has not been updated by the Council since it was reported.

This report of "Asbestos sheets in stream" was made on 15/03/2025 and has been marked as "Closed" with this comment on 27/03/2025 where it was classified for "No Further Action".

There is a serious problem with FixMyStreet reports being "Closed" by the Council and not being "Fixed". When people take the time to report issues they expect them to be "Fixed" and not just "Closed", or left "Open" for months.
