I also provide some detailed analysis of the 76 cycle hangars. --- ### Bristol Live In Oct 2025 [BL reported](https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/hundreds-new-cycle-hangars-planned-10604576?ref=bristol-uncovered.uk) that there were **102** cycle hangars in Bristol. ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/7e/00/7e00f3c6-351e-48d6-a922-14b85820294b/content/images/2025/12/image-19.png) The figure of 102 is much higher than any other published figure and is likely to be incorrect, unless it is counting cycle hangars that are not provided by BCC. ### Bristol City Council - Services Map The [Cycle Hangar Service Map](https://maps.bristol.gov.uk/pinpoint/?service=localinfo&maptype=js&layer=Cycle+hangar+location;Neighbouring+authorities&extent=953.0972186943982&ref=bristol-uncovered.uk) currently reports that there are **32** installed cycle hangars in Bristol, with another **39** proposed, resulting in a total of **71**. ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/7e/00/7e00f3c6-351e-48d6-a922-14b85820294b/content/images/2025/12/image-20.png) ### Bristol City Council - Decision Notice In Oct 2024 BCC published a [Decision Notice](https://democracy.bristol.gov.uk/ieDecisionDetails.aspx?ID=2366&ref=bristol-uncovered.uk) that stated there were **31** cycle hangars with approval to provide another **40**, resulting in a total of **71**. > For the Executive Director for Growth and Regeneration to sign and approve the tender report to commission the supply, installation, administration and maintenance for **40 cycle hangers** with the option to extend the maintenance for an additional 2 years with the option to enact the supplier managing the administration and maintenance of **31 existing on street hangars** in Bristol, after an initial 2-year period has ended. According to BCC there should be **71** cycle hangars in place today. It is clear that BCC are not keeping their Cycle Hangar Service Map up to date, so that is another BCC data publication that should be taken with a big pinch of salt. ### Bristol City Council - Citizen Cycle Hangar Register App The [BCC Citizen Cycle Hangar Register App](https://bcc.maps.arcgis.com/apps/instant/reporter/index.html?appid=2f23cd347a8643d5938425db1ccea7e3&ref=bristol-uncovered.uk) shows hundreds of Installed and Proposed cycle hangars. Many people want to cycle around Bristol, but they may live in accommodation where there is nowhere to securely store a bike. ### Bicycle Theft in Bristol Between Jun 2023 and Sep 2025 there were **1,818** reports of bicycle theft in Bristol.
