Each year I report on the "[Annual report to tenants and leaseholders](https://www.bristol.gov.uk/council/policies-plans-and-strategies/housing/our-performance-council-housing?ref=bristol-uncovered.uk)".

Here is the report for last year.

The latest [report for 2026](https://www.bristol.gov.uk/files/documents/11866-bd18449-housing-annual-report-2025-26/file?ref=bristol-uncovered.uk) has just been published by BCC, so I have updated my report that shows changes year on year.

This years report does not show figures for the previous year, so it is difficult to see what the changes are from one year to the next.

Here is my updated report that includes the data from the 2026 report.

The big surprise is the amount of data that BCC has decided not to includ in this year's report:

- Properties Let (disappeared)
- Average Days to Re-Let (disappeared)
- Empty Properties (disappeared)
- Tenants (disappeared)
- Tenant Ethnicity/Age/Disability (disappeared)

What have BCC removed this data from this year's report?

## What does the remaining data tell us?

### Number of Homes

The number of homes has **fallen by 1,913** from 28,724 to 26,811.

This is a **drop of 6.7%** in just one year. This is the only year apart from 2024 when this number has dropped. This number is the lowest it has been since 2017.

### Tenants and Leaseholders

The number of Leaseholder has **increased by 32**, from 1,956 to 1,988

This is an **increase of 1.6%** since last year. As BCC have not reported on the number of Tenants, we cannot see if the historic decline in the number of tenants continues at the same rate.

### Expenditure

Expenditure has decreased slightly since last year, **with reduced expenditure** on **New Build and Acquisitions**, **Housing Improvements** and **Management**.
