I have been reviewing the most recent entries in the [Bristol Video Library](https://bristol-uncovered.uk/bristol-uncovered-council-report/) that have arrived in the last six weeks.

Here are a few highlights:

## History

[Bristol Radical History Podcast: Interview with Lorraine Fish](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib10mDKEsog&ref=bristol-uncovered.uk)

Chris Bowkett interviews Lorraine Fish about growing up in Bristol in the 1960-70s. Lorraine was brought up in Patchway, went to school in Horfield, whilst her father worked in the BAC aircraft works in Filton. She begins by discussing her role in the counter-protests to the sanitised history of the city's six hundredth anniversary in 1973.

[The 1607 Bristol Channel’s Tidal Catastrophe](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-cUY2sqhIk&ref=bristol-uncovered.uk)

It is estimated that 2,000 or more people were drowned; houses and villages were swept away; and an estimated 200 square miles of farmland and livestock were destroyed. Along the coasts of the Bristol Channel and Severn Estuary, local economies suffered greatly as a result of the flooding. [The Murder Solved After 58 Years: The Case of Louisa Dunne](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8PfcAxJ7Oo&ref=bristol-uncovered.uk)

"It's satisfying to know what started off as a dusty old box in our archive store has ended up with justice being served and Headley getting what he deserved, which is the inside of a prison cell." ([BBC News](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c36xw0ryw51o?ref=bristol-uncovered.uk))

---

[Tales Of Hopper Chinnick (Bristol Rat Catcher)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V%5F0RfCJKe8k&ref=bristol-uncovered.uk)

Not to be confused with a tramp who was murdered in Leigh Woods in 1948\. His name was George Chinnock.

"The answer is NO".

[Week-long mission saves trapped and starving pigeons in Bristol](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jauJfT3WfZI&ref=bristol-uncovered.uk)

The group 'Bristol Stringfoot Community' are volunteers from across the city who try to rescue pigeons and help any who find their feet entangled in string or plastics. That group, along with other local wildlife supporters, began a rota to feed the birds trapped inside, while others lobbied for official action. [A green carpet has been added to Turbo Island](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r20JCQwXxYw&ref=bristol-uncovered.uk)

Pranksters have even cut a circular space in the new covering so bonfires can still be lit. ([Bristol 24/7](https://www.bristol247.com/news-and-features/news/green-carpet-covers-turbo-island/?ref=bristol-uncovered.uk))

[Area Committee 7: Southville, Bedminster, Windmill Hill, and Filwood - Tuesday, 15th September, 2026](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86XoXaZiZyQ&ref=bristol-uncovered.uk)

[Bristol Council - Values and Ethics Committee - 29 September 2026](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgomsIFPbDw&ref=bristol-uncovered.uk)

> Two notable things. First, I succeeded in getting Councillors to discuss something, by pointing out that while I support the change to a gender neutral word, 'Alderperson' just sounds stupid.
>
> Second, re-assurance wave given, that the meeting Agenda template has the 'public forum' item contained within it. It is curious then that the published agenda had a 'typo' and the link was replaced with plain text, coloured to look like a link.

[Finally noticing the closure of temporary wards](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KkiXNR1Gfg&ref=bristol-uncovered.uk)

> The closure of temporary (modular) wards at the BRI happened in 2025\. It has been mentioned in the papers in January and May 2026.
> A Cllr with chairing responsibilities only notices it in July 2026.

## Avon and Somerset Police

[Stolen Identity: The cloned car scam](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcJ8pzsyOBE&ref=bristol-uncovered.uk)

Last year, Avon and Somerset officers seized at least one cloned vehicle every week on average, double the number seized in 2023\. With vehicle theft and vehicle cloning on the rise, it's more important than ever to know the warning signs before handing over your money.
