Books about Bristol

Books about Bristol

I already produce reports on cultural activities in Bristol, which include Bristol Bloggers and Podcasts.

I have now added reports on publishers who publish books (and other printed items) about Bristol.

Publishers

Tangent Books

Tangent is a purposefully radical publisher: both in the content we publish but also in the authors and writers we choose to publish. We publish books whose stories, thoughts, images and writing will not be published elsewhere; whether because of location, economy or content. Radical, witty and irreverent by nature, we hope you find something to enjoy, and make you think a little too.

Bristol Radical History Group

We aim to:
open up some of the ‘hidden’ history of Bristol and the West Country to public scrutiny and challenge some commonly held ideas about historical events.
approach this history from ‘below’ by examining the actions and perspectives of those involved rather than just accepting contemporary establishment histories.

Redcliffe Press

We have published over 200 books on all aspects of the city’s life – Bristol’s art and architecture, maritime history, Bristol industries, Bristol Doors Open Day, public sculpture in Bristol, Bristol’s Jewish community, literary history, Bristol ghosts, family walks, profiles of local football heroes … the list is almost endless.

Bristol Books

Our mission is to enrich the culture of Bristol. We celebrate and shine a light on the history of the city, we enable the process of storytelling and bring to life untold stories. We champion working with and nurturing a diverse range of creative talent across the city and beyond. We are driven by our community impact rather than purely by profit.
We pride ourselves on high publishing standards and place a real value on books as physical objects and the important role they play in chronicling and recording the rich heritage and culture of the city, both past and present.

Bristol Culture Report

You can explore Bristol Culture on BU Reports (click on the "Culture" button).

The report is updated most days, and new books will be added when they are published.
